50 Fathoms: Characters

I’ve created several characters for players to pick from. There is one for each of the nine playable races in 50 fathoms:

  • Atani: tall, thin glider-folk with wing-like membranes
  • Doreen: semi-aquatic hunters and nomads (dolphin-men)
  • Grael: big, strong, semi-aquatic and not too bright (seal-men)
  • Half-Ugak: savage barbarians who look something like red-tinged neanderthals
  • Human: visitors from Earth
  • Kehana: cruel, aquatic pack hunters (fish-men)
  • Kraken: squid-faced humanoids with an affinity for magic (squid-men)
  • Masaquani: near-human in appearance, but with far more exotic and varied skin and hair colours
  • Scurillian: strange, unsocial heavily-armoured crab-folk (crab-men)

Atani

A mild-mannered, cautious Atani marksman who can’t swim

Doreen

A heroic, suspicious Doreen dirty fighter with shame in his past

Grael

A one-eyed, stubborn Grael ship’s carpenter with immense strength and an annoying quirk

Half-Ugak

An impulsive, thin-skinned Half-Ugak who fights with two weapons and loves drunken debauchery

Human

A mean, land-lubbin’ thief who gets seasick but can always scavenge useful items

Kehana

A curious, illiterate Kehana who goes berserk in battle but is haunted by a relentless enemy

Kraken

An over-confident, loyal Kraken air mage equipped with bone sword and armour, with an unfortunate phobia

Masaquani

An elderly, pacifist Masaquani water mage and gunsmith who’s hard of hearing

Scurillian

An honourable yet vengeful Scurillian scholar with a phobia, who humiliates his enemies
